Forty-three rhesus macaque monkeys escaped from the research facility in Yemassee, South Carolina and they are running loose as authorities try to bait them back to the compound. Here is what we know.

At least 43 primates were on the loose Thursday morning in a South Carolina town after escaping from a research center.

However, this is not the first time that the monkeys escaped the facility. In 2016, 19 monkeys escaped from Alpha Genesis and were captured almost six hours after their jailbreak, according to The Post and Courier, while 26 monkeys escaped in December 2014.
