New York City Mayor Eric Adams called the US immigration system broken and said he’d reach out to Donald Trump’s incoming administration with suggestions as the President-elect’s policy agenda takes shape.

Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday he opposed mass deportation plans by President-elect Donald Trump, but he is willing to work with his incoming administration on immigration. The comments came during a contentious news conference held as Trump has already named officials pledging to conduct immigration raids in New York and beyond.

President-elect Trump’s newly-tapped “border czar” Tom Homan, has vowed to carry out a deportation program in New York, whether local officials like it or not.
